Scala (XLA): OG Privacy Coin With Mobile Mining

Disclosure: As you might have seen on Twitter already, I have recently joined the Scala project as an advisor, a privacy coin that has been around for 5 years already.

What is Scala?

Scala (XLA), powered by the CryptoNote protocol, is a secure and private cryptocurrency that has already been around for 5 years now. It is more than just another privacy coin, aiming to create a scalable ecosystem, with the help of IPFS (Inter Planetary File System) and distributed technologies.

Also, one of its most interesting aspects, the one that originally caught my interest, is the fact that it can be mined via mobile devices and is optimized for ARM architectures; a big trend in the years to come, as it is enabling anyone who wants to mine to do so, different to Bitcoin for example where you need to have a certain budget.

All payments via Scala are untraceable and unlinkable - as you all know, privacy is not just nice-to-have, but will become a necessity in the near future as governments and regulators will crackdown on cryptocurrencies, the private ones in particular.

XLA Mobile Mining on Android Devices

XLA, using the Panthera PoW algorithm, can be mined on mobile devices. Currently the application is just available for Android devices, as Apple is limiting the availability of mining solutions in general.

A deep learning program called ‘AMYAC’ takes care of monitoring and optimizing the mining process in order to find out the maximum temperature that a smartphone should reach in order to ensure safe operating; they will still get warmer than usual.

If the maximum CPU temperature reached the miner will turn itself off until the temperature drops down to a normal level.

If you want to test it, I still recommend not starting with your main phone.

Key Figures, Development, Roadmap

Scala (XLA) has a market cap of shy ~$600,000 and lots of room to grow. That said, always keep in mind that low caps like this are a ‘risky’ investment itself and can be volatile.

While it is currently just traded on Tradeogre (XLA/LTC; XLA/USDT) there are plans to get it listed on more exchanges in the short-term; focusing on decentralized exchanges after establishing wrapped XLA on Ethereum and BSC.

Just recently the community voted on the V8 Menger update which will be deployed on the mainnet in Q1 2023. Here the roadmap with the upcoming changes and events:
